To spread the word about this year’s show, we began with interviews of past award winners as they described their gold-fueled “return on investment” from entering their work. As you might imagine, the responses were as varied as the all-star cast of legends we spoke with, including John C. Jay of Wieden+Kennedy, Nick Law of R/GA, David Lubars of BBDO, José Mollá of la comunidad and Ted Royer of Droga5.
I had the opportunity to work with Pum Lefebure and her DC-based Design Army who created this year’s show materials, several character designs, and a grid-based 45° world.
I worked with the team at Hue&Cry to develop the animation style which infuses the angular sensibilities of the design language. This lead to some completely bizarre character movements, semi-obscure references, and innuendo. Yep, just the way I like it...
