The pandemic strikes. And then you find out you’re pregnant! “Shelter-in-Place” would likely generate even more anxiety as you prepared for a new quarantine buddy…
For Everything Delivered, our goal was to present Invitae – a health tech company focused on genetics – as a knowledgeable, comforting friend who is there for your journey into parenthood with an at-home genetic screening kit. What could be more friendly?!
We divided the four-week production schedule in half, committing two weeks to design and two weeks to animation. Each artist worked remote between Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
With our approved character design sheet and storyboard as a guide, we proceeded by illustrating the 12 layouts and end card.
Animation took the form of a 2D/cel hybrid, which allowed us to quickly bring life to simple layouts (After Effects) while committing more time to ambitious character animation (Animate). For even more efficiency, we had a 3D artist create a reference of the rotating chair and box closure finale for our cel animator.
And just like the Invitae kit, we were ready to ship!
